What is the best route for a 40' motor home to take to get to Bryson city????
Take I-85 north to I-985 through Gainesville. This road becomes US 23/441, which you'll follow all the way into NC. At Dillsboro NC, the road dead ends into the Great Smoky Mountains Expressway (US 74). Take the Expressway westbound to Bryson City.
This route has beautiful scenery, and it's four lanes all the way with the exception of just a few miles through Dillard, GA. The only thing to watch for: be sure to take the bypass around Franklin, NC. You will need to turn right, but it is well marked. No big deal if you miss it...you'll go through downtown but it's very easy to negotiate even in a motor home. Enjoy your trip!
Completely agree. Easy drive. Just be sure to obey the speed limits in Tallulah Falls, Clayton, Mountain City and Dillard. When it says 45mph, they mean 45mph. ;)
If you need to stop and stretch, there's a Walmart and Home Depot about a mile before you get to Clayton. There's a red light there for the turn. Big parking lots and nice clean stores (and restrooms).
