Shout out to Josh at Rock Creek Cabins

We tried to arrive before the winter storm on Friday, but it arrived a little earlier than anticipated. A 5 hour trip from Charleston,SC took 8 1/2 hours! We attempted to make it up the steep road/driveway at Kephart Cabin and at the last incline, we got stuck in the ice and slush. (We were also driving a 4Runner). I don't do well with crisis situations, and this time we were REALLY stuck. We could not go up or down! We called Josh at Rock Creek and he called a tow truck to get us out. After the towing company arrived and $250 later, there was no way we could make it up to the cabin due to the conditions. The towing company recommended we stay in a hotel because the chances of losing power was so great. Once we got settled into the Sleep Inn (which was very nice and well worth $80 a night), we called Josh. He gave us a total refund for the weekend because it was something that couldn't be helped. I have heard horror stories in my travels of folks being out of several hundreds of dollars because they could not get refunded. Josh's service went way above and beyond our expectations. We will be back!

That's great customer service. This has been one heck of a storm. Glad you found lodging and are safe and sound.

Sounds like a good guy ...Josh. The tow company not so much. Why was it 250.00 to get you out of the snow? How long was he there?

That was super nice of him to refund your money. Usually, if you didn't buy travel insurance, you're out of luck.

I don't know if the tow truck overcharged you. I wouldn't want to go out in a snow storm and try to hook to a car on a steep road. ;)
