What has happened to the Cherokee Grand?

I have stayed there half a dozen times, but not in the last six months. It looks like they've doubled the per night rates and I'm reading that they no longer offer the breakfast.

The last 2 times I stayed there it was called something else. I have noticed the rates getting higher but don't know why. The last time I stayed there they did have a breakfast but I think it was waffles, donuts, toast, cereal.

The reviews also are very mixed.

That's a bummer because I liked staying there. Right now, the Casino hotel is cheaper so that's where I'll go until further notice.

Update. I just returned from a stay there. According to the front desk, there was no change in management. They just decided to stop providing the breakfast. That's a shame, too, because it was a very nice feature. However, the rooms are nice and the place is clean.

The Friday And Saturday Demand on the Harrahs Hotel at Cherokee , Has caused the other Local Hotels/Motels to Raise their rates. On Sold Out nights at Harrahs, You will find the local hotels asking walkups for as much as $500 a night. since the casino hotel does not offer simple amenities such as free breakfast, the ,locals have found it just as economical to not offer it either.

Do note that Harrahs WILL Subcontract the rooms from other local hotels on their sold out nights. thus the locals no longer have any need to offer "sale rates/ free anything"

I can't imagine dropping $500 on a room at any of those hotels.

I would not pay those kind of rates. I don't do the casino but have no issues with it. It has been a money maker for the area. The last few times we have been up there we stopped going on the weekend because of the higher room rates.
