Flying insects on beach

How bad are mosquitos and flies on Whale Head Beach in Corolla? Not sure how much flying insect defense, if any at all is needed. Thanks

A good rule of thumb is if the wind is blowing from the ocean inland you will be fine. If the wind is blowing from the inland to the ocean you will have more.

You won't be carried away as if you were on Ocracoke or other areas. As said above the east winds blow all bugs away and west winds bring them over. Have some deet since it has been a wet summer so far and that makes bugs worse.
