Best way to get from Kelowna to Comox

We are going to BC for a wedding June 30. I've booked the flights already but am having trouble booking a car since we want to pick it up in Kelowna and drop it off in Comox. Kelowna on June 29 at around 9 pm - dropping off in Comox on July 12 around 11 am

Thank you ❤

If we can't take the car onto the island we could Uber to the ferry and Uber on the island to another car rental place as that might be the best way -

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

No Uber, so forget that idea.

Can you lay out your whole itinerary? It would make it easier for the volunteers on here to figure out what would work best for you. How many days do you have total?

You are going to be here during a very busy weekend. Ferries will be super busy too!

Like Joan said, whole itinerary would be a good share. Is your plan to spend a few days in Kelowna and then drive the 4 hours to ferry and then carry on to Comox? You could fly from Kelowna to Comox or somewhere else on Island. Or fly into Vancouver and transit to Island.

You say you can't get a rental car, have you tried calling a few of the rental companies? Quite often they won't show availability if there is a drop off somewhere other than where you picked it up. They have the vehicles, but you have to contact them directly. And be prepared for a hefty drop off fee.

Yes, please, fill in the 2 week gap June 29-July 12, otherwise we are just spinning our wheels.

hi

for research: you should be able to find a car between Kelowna to Vancouver one way.

then take the ferry to Nanaimo and get another car at Departure Bay ferry terminal if you are going to be flying out of Vancouver Island - either airports might have a small drop off fee.

Not sure if you are flying in to Kelowna and then out of Comox later.

Is the wedding in Kelowna or Comox? Car pick up in Kelowna on 29th, wedding on 30th?

The options, other than flying, are, IMO, time consuming and inconvenient, especially with luggage. Unless you are willing to pay for a taxi ride. Drive to Vancouver, drop the car, take the bus for 1 hour to Horseshoe Bay (taxi for 30 min and $50), allow 20 min to buy your walk up ticket, walk on the Horseshoe Bay > Departure Bay ferry for 1.5 hours, get Enterprise to pick you up, take you to the rental office - 15 minutes, to complete the paper work, drive to Comox - 1 hour. I'm not a big fan of travelling stop and go, stop and go like that.

My vote would go to drive one way to Vancouver, fly to Comox on Harbour Air, rent a car in Comox. Your luggage would at least be checked to Comox, not schlepped by you. Check fares for luggage weight allowance.

45 minute flight, 2 flights a day on Harbour Air seaplane, from Vancouver harbour to Comox harbour.

You could also fly Air Canada from Kelowna to Comox on an hour flight to Vancouver, a connection time of 2 hours at Vancouver airport and a 40 min flight to Comox. At least your luggage would be checked through to Comox.
