It cost 251 pesos or about $20 USD, here is there website: …sct.gob.mx/sibuac_internet/ControllerUI…
No credit cards, only cash. No CDN cash of course, only MXP and USD.
We used the toll road last December. It was less than $5 USD each way. We used a car.
hstntx, your price seems odd. I am fairly certain that I paid closer to $20 USD or the pesos equivalent.
I entered the toll road from just south of the Cancun airport and paid the toll before reaching the Valladolid exit.
The tolls are 251 pesos at the Xcan booth, the first out of Cancun and 146 pesos at the Piste/Chichen Itza booth. They have been at this level for some time. I just verified on the Mexican Government Secretary of Transportation site. This is what you would pay going all the way to Merida. If you exit at Valladolid, you pay only the first toll of 251 pesos.
I find questions like this kind of funny, folks spend thousands of dollars coming to and staying in the area and they worry about $20 Toll or a taxi fare.........
I agree with you. I can't stand it when visitors haggle and haggle over prices w/ the local vendors, especially at the beach. Those extra pesos might mean a lot to a family trying to keep food on the table for their family while the visitor who spent so much money to get to that beach won't even miss those few extra dollars.
I might be wrong w/ the price regarding the toll road, but I didn't pay until I was over half way to Valladolid...out in the middle of nowhere. We were not coming from the airport. I know I paid in pesos, though, and not USD.
My bad. if I've led someone astray over $14 dollars, though. ;-)Edited: 23 October 2013, 08:35
What's so funny about asking what something costs? This is a completely reasonable question and I wouldn't assume that the OP is asking because he or she wants to avoid the toll or thinks it is too high. I would think that in asking the cost, the goal of the OP is to be prepared with the appropriate cash to pay the toll.
