Payment for taxi or merchandise in Longyearbyen

Can I pay my way with credit/debit cards in Longyearbyen, especially for the taxi, or do I need to take cash? If cash, should it be Norwegian Krone, Euro, or other.

Do shops and taxi drivers accept credit card, cash?

How much is a taxi from airport to Longyearbyen?

bus is 75kr from airport to any hotel. Buses meet all flights and 2 buses each cover different areas - driver will ask you before you get on where you want to go. Pay by card or cash on the bus (driver walks around before departing).

The taxis only take cash which will be in Norwegian kronor. We hired a taxi from the airport to the hotel, total price was 450kr or roughly £45 for a 3 mile journey. Best advice is to take the bus which works out at £3 per person and is on hand at the airport.

Most shops and restaurants accept credit/debit cards, remember things will expensive but everything is tax free.

Really?! I've never been in a taxi in mainland Norway that didn't take card. We didn't use a taxi last time we were in Svalbard since we arrived in Longyearbyen by ship, but this is very good to know for next time!

I didn't take any taxis but card/cash was accepted everywhere else except for a local outdoor event - cash only.

Cash preferred by some small operators, card preferred most everywhere else.
