Tom Sawyer Diner

Our group will be coming up for the Alabama game and we're looking for a centralized bar for a lot of the Bama fans to hang out. Have any of you gone here for drinks? Are there any other bars on 2nd Street that you would suggest? Thanks for any and all replies

The best sports bar in the area would be Aroogas, across the river from the city. http://www.aroogas.com/route-15-camp-hill-pa/

Mike, thanks for your reply. Aroogas looks great but we're looking for a place that's walking distance from the Hilton and Crowne Plaza downtown. Lots of Bama fans are taking charter trips and won't have cars.

If you want close, try Molly Brannigan's. It's almost next to the Hilton. If you venture up a lil farther on 2nd Street, you'll run in to Brick Haus and Zembie's. Both are also good spots to watch games and have decent food and often have drink specials.

Don't get shot...

Lots of recent issues downtown at the bars.

Ceolta's isn't generally one of the bars where the problems begin. Egypt had the most recent incidents and has since been closed. As anywhere else, it's always good to be aware of your surroundings and wouldn't recommend walking alone, especially if you're not familiar with the city.

Thanks for the heads up. We hope to be back to the hotel pretty early since we have to get up and drive to State College. Plus I doubt you'll see too many of our fans in the clubs... more like Ceoltas/Tom Sawyer

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop H in Newport is reminding motorists of a potential traffic back log due to motorists traveling to the Penn State-Alabama football game.

Since U.S. Route 322 in Perry County is currently closed due to flooding issues, motorists are expected to saturate Route 11/15 as their alternate route. Due to the anticipated heavy traffic motorists traveling on Route 11/15, state police remind motorists of the following tips:

Leave early and allow plenty of extra time due to heavy traffic

Speed limit on Route 11/15 is not posted at “highway” speeds; it fluctuates between 35 and 45 mph

Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle such as extra water, food, cell phone charger

Expect commercial vehicle traffic due to the truck restriction being lifted on 11/15

Fill up with gas prior to traveling onto this route in Perry County
