You can easily see the sunrise from any of the local beaches. The sunset will be over the marsh, not over the ocean. The Boat House restaurant on the Isle of Palms has excellent sunset viewing from their roof top deck. Vickery's on Shem Creek in Mt. Pleasant also has excellent sunset views.

Any beach will be great for watching the sunrise. My favorite sunset is at Breach Inlet, on the bridge that connects IOP and Sullivans. My second favorite is not a beach. Mt Pleasant Waterfront Park has a great sunset view.

Bowen's Island, over the marsh, again, is great for sunsets.

Depending on the time of year, you can get both sunrises and sunsets over the ocean (or harbor anyway. The photo in my profile is a sunset photo taken on Isle of Palms - and the Morris Island Lighthouse is in the middle of the sun.
