gators in the waterways

Do all the inland waterways on Edisto Island, SC have gators in them? I'm not keen to kayak with gators so just wondering. Thanks

They are less common in salty tidal creeks than in brackish or fresh water.

I just paddled down near Edisto today (Horseshoe Creek).

Although there are gators in the waters, we are not on their food chain (unless you want to smack them on the head w/your paddle, and upset their quiet world). Also, they are not quite as dumb as we usually think...they know that a kayak is usually bigger than they are so they just don't mess with.

Actually, it's so hot out right now that the gators are spending most of their time under the water. We didn't see the first one today.

Gators are a fact of life in the low country ~ don't bother them, they won't bother you.
