Myrtle Beach for a “girls” weekend?

Considering a trip to MB for a girls weekend in August for a friend’s 40th birtgday. There will be 8 of us traveling. We mostly just want to hang on the beach, go to beach bars, do some shopping and have some nightlife. Would like things in walking distance. Some of us will be interested in doing some of the “touristy” things. Would MB be a good place for what we want or is it too family oriented? (leaving our 21 kids at home!).

Any suggestions on where to stay? Just quickly looked at Coral Beach Resort, Doubletree, Island Vista, and Royal Palmsby Hilton. They all seem like they could work budgetwise but have no idea on locations. Trying to stay around $800 per room for 3 nights.

For walkability, scratch Island Vista off your list. It is a beautiful hotel in a residential area with no hotels or restaurants for quite a ways. Easy drive to everything though (and probably the nicest of those you mentioned). Royal Palms is nice, at the far north end of MB, and a small handful of bars and restaurants to walk to. Coral Beach is nice, but a big resort with a water park that attracts families with young children. Doubletree is at the far south end of MB, not sure of a lot of places to walk to, maybe a few restaurants. I think it is at the Springmaid Pier location. Close to Market Common, a very nice shopping/restaurant complex that you should go to anyway.

Look at Anderson Ocean Club, Camelot by the Sea, Ocean 22, The Strand, to name a few in the Boardwalk area with a LOT of restaurants and shops and bars to walk to. But...in a more crowded area because of all that. If it is just for the weekend, you can use Uber, Lyft or a taxi to get around to other places like Broadway at the Beach of Barefoot Landing and Market Common.

Look at the new resort South Bay Inn and Suites. They have some pretty good grand opening specials. Not sure what is within walking distance. For a fun night of comedy and laughs check out Comedy Cabana. You would have to drive there but it would make for a great night.

South Bay Inn and Suites would be great with plenty to walk to (it's on the Boardwalk). Should be open by then, but check.

Royal Palms and other condo towers at Kingston Plantation (South Hampton, North Hampton, Brighton and Margate) are well located and a short drive to many attractions. Other than the resort bars and restaurants you can walk to Ocean Annie’s (one of the best “beach bars” in MB) along the beach, but you will need to drive to other restaurants and attractions.

You should stay at the condos at Market Common. You will have to drive a short distance to the beach but having great shopping and dining at your fingertips will be worth it. I lived there for two and a half years it it was one of the best places I've ever lived.

If you want beach, bars and some attractions to walk to, look at Oceans 22 and The Anderson Club. they would be the best bet for adults. They are also in a good safe area.
