Google The Tremont House, that might fill the bill.

Kia ora, NannyandPoppy--

Have you arranged transportation to Galveston? Without a car to get there, you're going to have to arrange some type of limousine, Uber or Lyft, etc.

The Tremont House is beautiful, but is located away from the Gulf of Mexico, only a block or two from the Port of Galveston. If you are taking a cruise out of Galveston, it is an ideal location, and is also ideal for spending time on The Strand, Galveston's eclectic shopping area (about 4-5 blocks). If you prefer a Gulf view, look at the Galvez Hotel or the San Luis Resort Galveston, neither of which is inexpensive (nor is the Tremont). The city is filled with wonderful and moderately-priced seafood/shellfish restaurants.

I have stayed at the Harbor House which is 7 blocks from The Treemont House in The Strand. I loved it. Treemont is a full service hotel and has a beautiful roof bar. Since you have no car The Strand is an excellent choice because you can walk to everything. Food, shops, nightlife, Starbucks, etc.

When you want to go to Seawall Blvd. for sightseeing the trolley system is now up and running again.

Look at excellent YouTube videos of all things Galveston. Look at Cool Tours video and hope you will take her excellent tour. It departs from a huge gift shop across from the Galvez. It is called Murdock's.

Also, know that Galveston has live 24/7 cameras all over and you can watch them anytime on your computer to see what's happening.
