overnight stay in Hanksville

I am going to be visiting Capitol Reef National Park. Looking for a clean, nice, safe place to stay.

Do you have any suggestions?

Hanksville isn't a convenient location for visiting Capitol Reef. Look in Torrey Utah which is 15 minutes from the park entrance. Torrey is a delightful small town with a few choices for accommodations. There isn't much going on in Hanksville. Check TA for hotel reviews.

Welcome to the forum Joye:

You can find information on hotels her on Trip Advisor or at the Wayne County website http://www.capitolreef.org/

There are many wonderful places to stay in the town of Torrey which is only about 10 miles from the National Park

.

There is literally nothing in Hanksville. A gas station and Blondie's bar, that's about it.

As mentioned, if you're visiting Capitol Reef you want to stay in Torrey.

There are literally three gas stations in Hanksville. In addition to Blondies (which may not be open currently due to a change in ownership) there is Duke's burger place and the Red Rock Steak House. There is a small grocery store plus of course the 'World Famous' Hollow Mountain convenience store. A couple of hotels too. You can visit the Wolverton Mill and the Little Egypt geological area is nearby, there's a dinosaur dig open to the public early in the spring each year. The main access road to the Henry Mountains starts in Hanksville and you are close to Goblin Valley, Little Wild Horse and much of the San Rafael Swell as well as the western section of Canyonlands NP.

But for Capitol Reef, Torrey is somewhat more convenient.

Stan's is what I called Duke's, Duke Alvey owns it, I think Stan was his Dad.
