How much is the toll bridge over to the Eastern Shore from Newport?
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is from Virginia Beach to the eastern shore, toll runs from $13 one way and up depending on day of travel and type of vehicle. Check out http://www.cbbt.com
To get from Newport News to Norfolk you must take the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, or from Newport News to Suffolk you must take the Monitor Merrimac Bridge Tunnel, both are free and much shorter than the CBBT.
You really don't need to enter the bridge from Newport ? if you don't want to depending where your departing from.
To reach the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel (CBBT) from Newport News, hop on Interstate 64 East. You'll cross the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel and continue on to Exit 282, which will put you on Route 13 North (Northampton Blvd). This will bring you directly to the CBBT.
Once you're on the bridge tunnel (going east), make sure you stop at the scenicoverlook/restaurant/visitor center/fishing area. And it has restrooms too. It's on your right, on a man-made island, just before you enter the first tunnel. It's truly a fun and scenic experience!
But waitaminute, there's also a Newport, Virginia (not Newport News, which is in the Hampton Roads region), located in the western part of the state, a little northwest of Blacksburg (go Hokies!). That's a pretty long haul. So let us know if you actually need directions from there. :)
