Driving from Texas to Charleston in December

Hi!

Has anyone had experience driving 1-20 in December from Texas to Charleston and know what the typical weather is like? I'm concerned there might be ice or snow storms. We would be driving up December 7 and back to Texas December 14. I don't want to book our hotel if we don't know for sure that it will be ok.

All recommendations are appreciated and any experience with weather through Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina in December will be helpful!

Thank you!
