Flying to Waikola from PHL?

Should we fly through PHL? Do we then fly to KOA or ITO?

I don't believe any airline flies direct to anywhere in Hawaii from PHL. If flying USAir you'll likely need to connect in Phoenix. Regardless you want to end up at KOA if you're staying in Waikoloa.

vtgambler is right, you want to go to KOA. USAir via PHX or United via LAX or PHX

You will find much better service and fares if you zip down to IAD washington or up to JFK NY because they are major hubs and fly excellent equipment.

I fly IAD to Kona on a regular baisis for years.

Here is my suggestion.:

United provides the best aircraft/equpment/service to Kona.

You will fly IAD to SFO and SFO to Kona departing IAD at 1130...arrive Kona 1830

Present fare for May is $777

Dont use "free miles"... because it will cost more than the ticket you get...almost $450 more per ticket. ( yes free tickets have a value to you and also the miles you spend have a value of .03 @....spend them wisely) Also upgrades to first class from coach end up costing more than actual purchase of a full fare first class ticket...

If you are not flying first class..$2250 then go for Uniteds Economy Plus seats.... no other domestic airline has them. The have almost the same legroom as First class... but with coach seats...they are in the best position on the airplane and have reserved overhead bins. it will cost about 120 more to do this each way.......But if you buy a $350 , 12 month pass...good for 2 persons you save..... And even better if you fly any more within 12 months you get economy plus...unlimited.
