Party of 11... traveling with kids 2,3,7,9 and 7 adults. Hearing fisherman's wharf area is where I should be...accurate? TIA
With kids, Fisherman's Wharf or nearby neighborhoods will work. I'd think VRBO would be a lot less expensive than hotel rooms.
I would agree with Simba. VRBO will be less expensive. It will also allow you to prepare meals in a home, hang out as a group, and give the kids a place to play.
Also plan ahead for events, tours, and restaurants. I found that dining with a large group can be hard in San Francisco. Many of the restaurants are busy and often small. So walking in at night with 11 people wont be easy.
I would also recommend either renting a couple vans or SUVs if you are comfortable driving and parking in San Francisco. Or you can use a couple Uber XL's that will fit up to 6 people each.
It may be hard to find a vacation rental that will sleep 11 people -- you'd need at least 3 bedrooms plus a sofabed in the living room. (The city has very few single-family, 3-bedroom homes, and very few of them are near Fisherman's Wharf.)
Maybe look at getting several rooms at the Suites at Fisherman's Wharf or similar.
I think that traveling with 11 people to any city in the World would be very difficult. How are you planning to get around? Hiring a large van is probably the only option. As has been said few if any restaurants would be able to accommodate so may people. Making reservations in advance for 3 meals a day would be almost impossible..
If you did find a VRBO or similar type place to stay that would sleep 11 people (cribs?0 the price would be out of almost any travelers budget.
I think that you should split the 11 up to smaller groups. 5-6, or 4-3-3 . Spend the days apart from oneanother and meet at the end of the day to compage note.
If you go asa group of 11, film the experience foea reality tv show.
