there really isn't a beach *close* -- the airport is on the far west side of the city, and the beaches are on the very far east side. you're looking at the better part of an hour each way -- Jacksonville isn't a huge population center, but the city limits are the same as the county limits -- so it's sprawled all over the county.
From the airport I would suggest taking Heckscher Drive to Little Talbot Island. It is an awesome and serene beach.
Or you can drive right out onto the beach:
These hotels are all directly on the beach except for Fairfield which is just across the street from the Courtyard:
Best Western Oceanfront, Jacksonville Beach
Casa Marina Hotel, Jacksonville Beach
Hampton Inn, Jacksonville Beach
Courtyard by Marriott, Jacksonville Beach
Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott (across the street from the beach)
Seahorse Oceanfront Inn, Neptune Beach (My favorite!)
One Ocean Hotel, Atlantic Beach
Here's a map that shows the hotels on the beach if you get a close up of the map:
Enjoy your stay!
Not sure when your arriving, but The Players is this weekend = may not be too many hotel rooms.
If you do decide to go out to Talbot Island or Huguenot Park, it is actually about a 30 min. drive from the airport. On the way, you can check out this place for some pretty good food...cash only. https:/…chowder-teds-jacksonvilleEdited: 10 May 2017, 22:49
