skyline photography

Hello all! I'm going to be in the city next week for one night and would like to find one or two spots where I can get a good photograph of the cities' skyline. I'll be alone, so safety is of somewhat concern. Is there a 'riverwalk' area or something like that to frame a few shots? Likely will be later in the evening, after dark, but not late. Thanks

Looks like the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge would be a good vantage point - is this safe at or after dusk? thanks!

I think that there are a few businesses located just north of downtown that would be good I think . Head north up Abbot Drive ( starts just north of the ballbark . I think that the Hollywood Diner parking lot would be good - or up farther by the airport perhaps. You could also take the 480 bridge across the river east to Council Bluffs and shoot from over there I think there is a park and again, probably a business parking lot that you could get a shot from. Your best bet ( no pun intended ) might be if you go over to the Harrah's Casino ./ Hotel and go to the upper deck of the parking lot its right on the river and directly across the river from downtown and has security. Likewise - maybe you you could get a meal at the 360 Steakhouse Restaurant at the top ( 12th Floor ) of the Harrah's hotel and get a nice shot too if they don't have a problem with that.

I like the area at 10th and Douglas. Looks like right around the corner from the Convention and Vistor's Bureau.

Some of the photos on the google maps there look like a nice shot. Parking also looks plentiful in that area - would that be a correct assumption? thanks

At 10th and Douglas you will be pretty close to all the taller buildings - I was thinking you wanted to get a more panoramic shot of the skyline from just outside downtown. If you want closer shots like that , also think about the ConAgra campus ( Heartland of America park ) , you can see that they have a lake with a walking path around it from the satellite images. Or the parking lot at the CenturyLink center if you can get in there or the recently closed Rick's cafe boatyard parking lot on riverfront drive - there is a walkway along the river along there also.
