Outrigger Reef or The Hyatt????????

I understand that the Outrigger Reef has had a recent renovation, but wondering if the Hyatt has had a renovation lately? Any suggestions on which Hotel is better would be appreciated - the rates are about the same.

THANKS!!!

This is a tough question for me to answer. As strictly hotels, amenities, etc. the Hyatt is a much nicer hotel, a solid 4 star hotel. The Reef is a solid 3 star, maybe 3 1/2.

The Reef is smaller, and I like that and it is on the beach in a quieter section of Waikiki and has nice shops and dining around it.

The Hyatt on the other hand is more centrally located, sits on top of a small shopping center and just does a great job in general

I like that the rooms at the Outrigger Reef have been recently remodeled and are very modern and clean. The Shorebird restaurant/bar is great for Happy Hour (can't beat the view and $3 Mai Tais). It's just far enough away from the traffic and noise of Lewers St. and the Beachwalk, but close enough to be able to walk to everything. I think it's an excellent value for what the property has to offer, especially since they are right on the beach. I would definitely put them in the 3.5 - 4 star range.
