We should be visiting California mid / late August and would love to visit Yosemite. I understand accommodation is hard to find at this late stag and wondered what our best next option would be and would two nights be okay?

2 nights is only 1 day. Could be fine depending on what you’d like to see. If it were up to me I’d spend an entire week there.

Look for lodging here at Yosemite View Lodge or Cedar Lodge. Good luck!

Keep checking for cancellations at https://www.travelyosemite.com/lodging/yosemite-lodging-experience/

I’d rather stay in a Curry Village tent cabin vs a nicer property outside Yosemite Valley. Plus you’ll need a day use pass if staying outside so make sure you can get one first before planning on staying outside.

Outside and inside Yosemite look through here

There are many properties outside Yosemite but be prepared to a drive to and from.

If you stay outside the park, you have two challenges -- finding accommodations AND getting a day-use pass. You could check for the day-use pass now, and if you get it, then search for lodging outside the park.

Personally, I'd check the official in-park lodging website compulsively throughout the day, as that would be the easiest and most convenient solution.

If you can get reservations to enter the park - yes those are needed too - you could have a full day in the park and then drive to the Toulumne Meadows part of the park, Stay in the Eastern Sierras such as at June Lake Loop.

Its a very pretty area.

Then return to Yosemite the next day That way you get to see two amazingly beautiful area.

Most Day Use Permits went on sale long ago. The remaining permits go on sale seven days in advance at 8am

Example... A three day Day Use Permit beginning on August 20 will go on sale on August 13.

Thanks. I checked the week we plan to go. It says 615 tickets left allowing a car for 3 days
