We are a family of 4, two small boys who will be 9 and 5 by the time we travel there. I have been looking for where to stay but had not considered the vastness of the park and which accommodations would have access to the trails that would be most appropriate for kids. Hoping for a hotel with activities for the kids after the hikes and a restaurant or two on site or nearby. Is 3 nights sufficient? Any and all suggestions are welcome!

for first time stay in the valley floor area.

In otder of checking availability

1) Ahwahnee cabins

2) The Lodge

3) Camp curry cabin with bath

for your nice family 3 nights is perfect.

Is Rush Creek a nice resort? I ask because they seem to have a lot of activities for kids. Are your suggestions based on location? Thank you for the feedback.

When are you planning to go? Your first priority is to book something inside the park. Read the top questions on the right side of this page (read on a computer, not using an app). Lodging inside the park is in high demand. So you may have to look for outside the park hotels. In that case, at this time you'll also need a day use permit to enter the park.

Rush Creek is a very nice resort and close to Hetch Hetchy section of Yosemite

It is an hour or so drive though to the valley floor where the iconic sites is.

If you can only book Rush Creek, you will like the place, better food, but more driving.

Yosemite. Valley Lodge is in a great location near the shuttle, restaurants and the village. That’s where we stayed our first visit. We also stayed three nights. Enjoy your time in the national park!

Hi

The Top Questions on the right is loaded with information that can be helpful to visitors. Use the full TripAdvisor website.

Yosemite Valley is closest to a variety of activities that can appeal to a family. You can commute to Yosemite Valley from Rush Creek Lodge if you want; I have read that it's "only" a 45 minute drive without traffic.

Do take the advice of those who counsel staying in the valley. You don't want to waste time and bore your kids with long drives (think 45 min. to an hour) into the valley, which is where you'll find the stuff that's most interesting to the kids (and you, too).

We are planning to go end of May, beginning of June. I see you're in California. Do you have a recommendation of the best airport to fly into?
