Got a bit lost with all the info. Would appreciate your detailed help.

Family of 5 (a couple, 15,12, and 6 years old kids).

Leaving SF on Sunday 07/31 AM heading to Yosemite.

Arriving Vegas on Wednesday 08/03.

What would be a recommended itinerary?

Thanks in advance.

There is a TA article (slightly dated but still good info) that will outline the drive and attractions along the way. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g28926-c182361/California:United-States:Las.Vegas.To.Yosemite.National.Park.html

There are lots to see so having several nights for the trip is great.

Many folks would do 2 nights in/near Yosemite Valley and one night in June/Mammoth Lakes, Bishop or Lone Pine.

Accommodation Cancellations in Yosemite Valley are common, they are also snatched up quickly.

Are you renting an RV? I might have different recommendations.

You dont have a lot of time. So stay the first night in Yosemite, then Mammoth and then Lone Pine or DV ( DV will be HOT).

Thanks,

Lone Pine is quite far from LA and too close to Mammoth. Is there any place closer to LV for the last night.

Also, we are looking at two lodges in Yosemite:

1. 3-star Yosemite View

2. 4-star Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, which looks nicer

3. The Ahwahnee

Is there a difference in their locations and access to the park?

Thanks again,

Janiv

I would book the Ahwahnee now. Yosemite Valley location is ideal, particularly for just one night.

Also consider a night the Inn at Death Valley. (Furnace Creek)

Tenaya's location is also good?

Not really.

Did you see the lodging topic? It includes drive time to Yosemite Valley.

Assuming you don't want to backtrack...

Sunday. SF to Tenaya Lodge. Mariposa Grove and maybe swim in the river in Wawona.

Monday. Yosemite Valley. Stay Yosemite Valley.

Tuesday. Tuolumne Meadows and a bit of the Eastern Sierra. Stay Bishop or Lone Pine.

Wednesday. Thru Death Valley to LV

Tenaya Lodge location is not great for valley tourism, but it can work for a first night before the Valley. It's not a good location for your exit day. It's okay for Mariposa Grove and Wawona.
