Remember that you need overnight reservations inside the Park gates or a Peak Hours Entry Permit (6 am - 4 pm) to drive into Yosemite.

The NPS page has been updated. Bicycles are allowed May 21 and 22 only. There will be staff automobile traffic on the road, but no visitor traffic.
The road will close to cyclists after that. No visitor traffic of any kind May 23, 24, 25, & 26 while the road crew finishes things up (including blasting a big rock.)
We arrive Sunday at Reno Airport at boon and have to drive, with Tioga closed for this weekend would the community recommend Hwy 108 (Sonora Pass) or hwy 4 (Ebbetts pass). Based off a few comments it sounds like Sonora has more twists & turns and sharp drop offs which this flat lander mid west girl knows is not unavoidable but if hwy 4 is noticeably "easier" for those not used to Mountain driving I'd prefer it.
YEAH!!! PacificNW: Thank you for the info!
Scenic Route 4 is a very slow going road- one lane at times, very narrow, twisty. Not impossible, just slow. Could visit Calaveras Big Trees (Sequoia grove) too. Alpine lakes, Historic towns like Columbia SHP
Maybe Hwy 88?
