Internet on LCI?

Is internet available at all or does it depend where you stay? How is internet in general travelling through Nica?

Why would you need internet on LCI? The entire point of LCI is to get away from it all

Internet is available on some points of LCI but why do you need it there...In general in Nicaragua in touristy places like Granada, Leon, SanJuan del Sur you will find many Internet cafes and many hotels offer wifi...in less touristy places you still will find internet but not and every corner and speed can be slow..

Cheers

Internet is generally available on Little Corn but the Island turns off electricity between about 5 AM and noon every day. Some hotels and places have generators but why do you need Internet there? LOL~ It's a wonderful idyllic place to escape. That said, Hotel Los Delfinos, where I stayed has free Internet. Tranquillo's and Cafe Desideri both have internet and a good happy hour. Cafe Iguana has a generator and free internet as does Turned Turtle if you want to walk over there for breakfast or lunch. I recommend both.

Thanks to NKyAdv for actually answering this question. Go Reds. But why to we have to chastise people with questions like, "why would you want it. Getting away is what Little Corn is all about?" Maybe somebody has a sick relative at home they need to keep tabs on. Or small children. Or a diagnosed addiction to Gilligan's Island reruns on Netflix? Who cares?

Having come back to the rat race of phones, internet, and constant communication, I miss the peace and tranquility of Little Corn. Thanks GOWYO for your acknowledgement and "go reds"----only 10 days to Opening Day. SPAZBUNNY, there is NO comparison between St. Thomas and Little Corn. Little Corn and the Internet are like they are everywhere else. I was on a subway in China and everyone was plastered to their phones. At happy hour at Tranquillo's and Cafe Desideri I would say 3/4 of the folks are on their phones and laptops and 1/2 of those aren't even talking to anyone. GOWYO your response was insightful. There are certainly good reasons to stay in touch peripherally. In the old days, we called that using a payphone. LOL~ Addiction to Gilligan's Island reruns? Hmmm......maybe that's where Malaysia 370 is. Let me know if you see it.

NKY, that's funny (Gilligan's Island and the Malaysia flight). And you're right about St.Thomas and Little Corn. If such a cult exists there, they must be very frustrated. Spazbunny, maybe you're thinking of St. John? That's a pretty cool place that would strike a nice balance between Little Corn and St. Thomas.

As a location that provides free WiFi to our customers, along with half the other tourists on the island, who hang out on our public beach, Tranquilo Cafe doesn't judge why or if you need it.

There are a number of other locations on the island that offers it to their customers as well.

Keep in mind, this is a 3rd world country... and that Little Corn is 50 miles off the coast of it's most remote side, and have a provider that sends a signal from Big Corn via antenna. The service he provides to the Little island should be 24 hours, but as the joke goes " ...not in a row". However it is on most of the time. Just don't expect fiber-optic speeds, and it's all ok.

No anti-technology cults here, as 99.99% of the people here are transient, so it would hard to keep the membership going. The ones that criticized no doubt could be spotted tapping away on their androids or iPhones while sitting on our steps.

The rest of us like being in touch, and don't feel that swimming, hiking, diving, drinking, and sunset watching are mutually exclusive of that.

And finally.. When you come, you will see that Little Corn is NOTHING like St. Thomas.

You're making the assumption that everyone has something to get away FROM. We've been traveling full time for six years. We also work full time. We spent the first six months this year in Africa with baboons and elephants around our house. Now we're in Mexico for six months with whales, whale sharks, and manta rays. Maybe this helps you see that others have different lives than you and can live on little corn without leaving something distasteful behind.
