"want to know what currency to bring"

Which currency you have in your pocket when you board the plane should never be Jamaican dollars (unless you have some left over from you last trip to the island). You should have either Sterling or US dollars in your pocket when you board the plane.

"would USA dollars be better to spend or Jamaican dollars "

That depends on where you are planning to spend your money.

If you decide that you want to spend US dollars, bring them from the UK.

If you decide that you want to spend Jamaican dollars, bring Sterling and convert Sterling to Jamaican dollars in Jamaica. You can do the conversion at any bank or any cambio (but avoid the cambio at the airport).
