Hi Phil

We are back to Crete in a few days and I have ordered my euros on line as you get a better rate - and an even better rate if exchanging over £500 too, we always exchange our sterling in the U.K. as it's usually a better rate - we also only take euros cash to Crete, with a cc as back up,or to,purchase larger items - as long as your accommodation has a safe then its fine :-)

Around about 1.17 € to the £ if you are getting about £1000 worth of euros.

If only, Sid, if only...1.066 in the local pawn shop today, I noticed.

audreywilson22, usually the rate is better in the UK. If you change sterling note in Greece it will usually be a bit less after commission. Using an ATM with a UK card which charges conversion fees etc (most of them) will give you something similar. TBH, the differences aren't large unless you're changing a lot of money.
