Transit Visa

Hi, all. I have a stopover flight at the YNT airport in transit to Siem Reap, Cambodia. I'm flying from ICN (Seoul) to YNT (Yantai) to KMG (Kunming) and finally to REP (Siem Reap). I am a US citizen and will only be in China for about 12 hours, so I think I will qualify for a transit visa exemption. However, while I know that I should be fine at KMG, I have been unable to find any specific information about YNT's transit visa policies/restrictions. Does anyone have any information on this?

Thanks!

Better call the chinese embassy and the airlines too.

Chinese transit information is very limited on internet.

Hi,

I am not so sure you will get a transit visa to allow you out of the airport.

Yantai is such a small airport, and I understand only the larger airports will recognise this transit visa stuff.

But please let me know how you got on.

Read the Timatic visa databank for US passport and China word by word. All airlines do exactly the same. That is were the airlines get the information to let your fly - or not.

I believe the 2nd China stop makes things difficult. If unsure, get a visa.

Oh, Luck! That message was a few month old. Don't do grave digging here!

So, yeah, super old message, but I appreciate the replies anyway. I had no trouble at Yantai, luckily, though the guy at the immigration desk did have to call over a superior officer for the stamp. Other than that, though, everything was smooth and easy.
