afitos 2023

Question

ive just returned from 2 weeks in Ios and i was staggered by the prices, 8 pint of mythos. 7 small bottle mythos cocktails 15 greek salad 12 sunbeds 10 each metaxa 3 star 9  large glass rose 11.

we were spending 250 euros a day without going crazy,it was crazy.

weve booked for september 2023 in the stamos hotel for 2 weeks.what are peoples thoughts on this hotel?

just a few questions please

how do the prices compare?

is the beach in afitos worth visiting and/or are there nicer beaches close by for daily visits?

is the hotel pool big enough to spend the day at as it looks quite small?

i have an option to move the hotel to the country inn at kallithea and taxi into afitos when needed,does anybody think this would be a good move?

i could also move to petrino suites or aegean blue so some tips on these compared to stamos would help too.

Hi there.

I can't tell you much about the hotels, but what I can say for sure is that these prices do seem expensive and that prices around here tend to be lower. Noone can say about next year, but comparing to this year, the prices at Ios, sound a bit annoying to my ears. The beach in Afytos is a beautiful beach, but mostly rocky and downhill. You should visit it a couple of times in order to have a personal opinion about it, however if you have a car or if you are willing to move by taxi or bus, there are plenty of beautiful beaches around to enjoy. When comparing Kallithea and Afytos, I would personally go for the second one, as it fits my taste more. Lots of nice restaurants and bars through the stone paved roads of Afytos, make it a beautiful scenery.

Afitos is lovely....stay there not Kallithea. Aegean Blue studios are lovely and 5 min walk to centre. We have just returned from Afitos staying in Rigas Boutique Hotel.....fabulous. Food and drink very reasonable in the village. Afitos is a village on a hill so it's a 10 min walk to the lovely beach. Crystal clear water.....enjoy!

We were there yesterday enjoying cold Alpha with spectacular views in a laid back bar for 3.5 Euros (for half litre) Same price at the beach with gorgeous seafood at a beach restaurant (Ta Galarakia) calamari 8E tomato/cucumber salad 5E We’re staying in Hanioti but agreed Afysos was a much nicer area - the beach is much smaller though and a walk down from town. Very easy to get the bus into other resorts.

In August we were in the hotel next door to the Country Inn the Nostos Hotel, our first visit to this area. Both these hotels are in Kallithea about 1.5miles from Afytos. We went to the local beach about a 10 minute walk away and used the concession in front of the Blue Sea Beach bar. 2 beds and a shade 10E. Most nights we went into Afytos to eat. A taxi was 5 E each way from the hotel.

I'm an ex rep from Afitos if you spend EUR 250 per day in Afitos you would be feeding a small army!! prices in general are much lower than Ios .....

Regards to accommodation all the hotel and apartments that you are looking at are lovely I would say the Stamos has a small pool but it is central, the Aegean Blue pool is bigger and has the views across the bay. The Petrino Suites are nice but are situated on the opposite side of the main road from the village. The Country Inn is situated at the end of the back road between the Afitos and Kallithea, but there you have easy access into Kallithea and a 20 min walk into Afitos or a 5 EUR taxi ride
