It is do-able in a long day if you set off really early but I would tie it in with a stop over in Nafplio or somewhere :)

That would be a lot of driving - I'd say around 3.5 hours each way.

Epidavros is fabulous, but you really don't have to go that far to see an equally fabulous ancient site. Much closer to Stoupa - about 1.5 hours drive away - is Ancient Messini near the modern town of Messini (just beyond Kalamata airport). Many people think it is one of the most beautiful, interesting and impressive ancient sites in Greece. Because it's a bit off the beaten track it is not much visited so you won't find the crowds you get at Epidavros. Ancient Messini is huge and has a wonderful stadium with intact seating, as well as a theatre, odeon, agora and much more - it is still being excavated. The small museum in the nearby small village of Mavromati should not be missed as it contains sculptures found at the site. Have a drink or lunch at the village taverna which has a lovely shaded terrace with a panoramic view over the site below.

yes we went to ancient messini absolutely loved it, such a beautiful location and really interesting. We preferred it to ancient olympia, when we go next year we want to mystras and i thought Epidavros looked interesting too.

Cariad23 we have just been to Epidavros, it took us about 4 hours to get there and that was going on the toll roads. We stayed overnight at Hotel Christina in Palia Epidavros. We went there first and asked if they had a room for the night, we checked in and then went onto the theatre. They are really nice people and the room only cost 40Euros the resort is lovely with a harbour and plenty of places to eat & stay. The Site is open from 8 in a morning till 8 at night in the summer and costs 12Euros each. There are plenty of taps for you to fill up your water bottle as you go round. Go and enjoy.

Me too. On the way back we went up to Ancient Corinth. We got there for 10:30am and not many people about. It cost 8Euros each. No taps this time. If we had known at the time we could have gone up to Acrocorinth which you can see from the site, but we missed out on that one. There is also Ancient Mycenae with the Lion's Gate, you see the signs for it on the toll road.
