RC Liberty of the Seas, 8/28/22 to 9/3/22, Western Carribean.
We booked our cruise through Vacations to Go.
We traveled as a couple with four other friends.
Most aspects of our cruise met our expectations. We enjoy quiet sailing and don't generally do excursions.

Our stops were at Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Jamaica. We had been to all three before and had no expectations. One of us did one excursion and found it unsatisfying.

Our balcony cabin was well appointed, and our steward Jamal did a fine job. We enjoyed sitting out on our balcony.

There were some dissatisfactions.

Not enough attention is paid to people who wish to sit in a quiet place and read. The "library" on this ship is a joke, merely a wide spot in a corridor leading from the starboard elevator lobby to the port side, with a shelf containing only a few books, most in foreign languages. The lounge on 14 has a few comfy chairs and works, until some noisy people come in, because after all this is an event venue, not a reading room.
Outside on deck 4 is an option, but it is outside, and you may get hot.

We selected "my time" dining and were served in the deck 3 dining room by the same staff every night. The staff (Kevin, Wiwik and Mezar) did a good job... with what they were given, which was substandard food. I was told that management blames the servers if guests complain about the food. If so, it is highly unfair. A tough steak is not made so by the server's presentation; it is the poor quality of the food itself. Some dishes were all right, but too many were not. The servers responded the best they could to correct what was not their fault.

The food in the Windjammer food court was in many respects better than what was served in the dining rooms.

On three evenings dinner was interrupted by blaring loud music and some kind of show put on by the staff. One night they wanted everyone to stand up and do the macharena; another night we had to endure this "colorful" character yelling at us about how fun our cruise is. Why not just let people enjoy a nice quite dinner?

Noise was an issue. They kept ambient music at a loud level on the prominade and in the dining areas, forcing guests to have to yell at each other to be heard. Maybe they think this keeps the energy level high. Again, deck 4 outside is an option, or your own cabin.

We like trivia, but the venues used for trivia were usually situated in bars that are in line with foot traffic and far to small to accommodate everyone.

It is nice that RC is finally dumping their ridiculous covid pre-testng requirements. They cost money and did us no good. We tested negative before boarding the ship, and I tested positive after leaving the ship. There will be a risk of your getting covid on your cruise no matter what anyone does. Get vaxxed and be prepared to deal with it.

So I'll start by stating I'm a foodie. With that being said. The main public restaurants were more like a slop bucket aka Whirlwind & a trough, where they herd you in like cattle. If that's the experience you want by all means this is the Cruise for you. I did upgrade to the food package but that's for eating @ their convenience not yours. I made a reservation @115pm for lunch & showed up @136 & was told they close @130 pm & was refused. Although my wife was already eating. The @ the upgraded restaurants were good & worth the additional fee. However the entire process was pathetic how they nickel and dime you. If you read this far Thank you please don't waste your $

We have cruised with Royal Caribbean previously. We traveled with elderly parents(needing mobility assistance). I was shocked to see how little this cruise ship does to accommodate disabled cruisers. This was the tip of the iceberg. I was surprised to see the worn out condition of the ship. Movie screen on the pool deck was not functioning, the elevator doors were peeling, at least one elevator was down the entire cruise, doors were broken, peeling laminate on elevator doors, etc, the carpeting was very worn and dirty, and other minor issues. I know the ship is going to be refurbished, but you can’t just let it disintegrate until it is ready. The service was, in my opinion, much worse than before Covid. From disabled assistance to Coco Cay, the service and attitude was generally subpar. The main dining staff continually delivered the wrong orders, didn’t deliver any drinks in a timely fashion(many times they didn’t even deliver them), had cold food, and generally just didn’t care. There are no other ways to eat once the buffet closes, other than Sorrentos Pizza(which wasn’t very good). There are no other snack areas available. This obviously causes long waits. We had the soda package, but you had to go to a bar to use it. This would be fine if the staff didn’t treat you like a second class citizen for ordering pop. They really need to install pour your own soda machines on this vessel. To be fair, overall the food wasn’t bad, just not up to RC standards. Our cabin was dated, but clean. The cabin steward was fine, but we rarely saw him. I think they probably have them working more cabins now. Overall, the experience was disappointing and I regret spending the vacation dollars on this ship. I couldn’t say the experience was poor, but average is too good. I’d rather have done 2.5. I hope first time cruisers don’t form an opinion based on that ship and sailing. Given the choice, it’s best to sail another RC ship….

I have been on 11 cruises now and I do my research. I will choose wisely and usually know what I am getting into. This cruise was not terrible but there will be a best and there will be a worst. I enjoyed myself but I know from past experiences on this and other cruise lines things can be a lot better. The negatives There was no comedian. All of my cruises except for Disney had a comedian on every sailing. Food- As a person formally trained as a culinary artist and restaurateur, I have the ability to see potential and failure before I taste your food. Also, I only have expectations that I know you, the business can provide. I know that Royal Caribbean has better capabilities. The dining in the dining room was a the worst I have ever experienced. The food was very pedestrian and plain. I enjoyed the buffet during dinner more than the main dining room. Along with the food in the dining room being a let down; the fellow cruisers have lost basic manners and etiquette. Table cloths and cloth napkins denote a certain type of decorum and this decorum was not present by a very vocal few. The reason why there are dress codes. The way you dress effect the way you conduct yourself. The dress codes have been relaxed to a point where they are nonexistent. The passengers without fail conducted themselves exactly how they dressed! The "Chef's Table" was a good experience but had a lot of holes in the service. The food was good but not special. Thinly slicing scallops alone, does not make it carpaccio. The best thing about the experience was that I was with a much better class of people at dinner. I have been waiting for some time to experience "Johnnie Rockets", but still no dice. The line and the wait was ridiculous with being most-likely understaffed and disorganized. There was no communication as to how long the wait would be or what should be expected. From look on the Staff's face I could tell that the service and quality was going to be effected. I left for the buffet and attempted to return for a milkshake but the line or que(which was separate before I left) was in greater disarray. Merchandise I had a reasonably large budget to spend money on what most cruise ships offer. I could not find hardly anything I was looking for. I wanted Royal Caribbean Logo clothing and the like. I have purchased this type of gear before and there was nothing worth purchasing. There was no hats, Shirts, Sweatshirts, etc. that had the white and blue Crown and Anchor logo available or was in my size, my wife or kids size. The sales associate when asked looked at me frustrated and explained that he did not know why they no longer had these basic items in stock. My wife was also disappointed in the selection of cosmetics and perfumes available. My wife is one of the least picky women I have ever been around, when it comes to these things and she could not find anything that she liked. The duty free shop was one of the best looking and themed shops I have ever been on a ship which mostly likely effected its space for inventory. This was duty free shop had the worst rudimentary selection I have ever seen. I went on YouTube

This is a very nice ship that is in great ship. The staff was excellent. RC must do a great job taking care of their employees because every one that I spoke with enjoyed their job and ensured that the passengers were taken care of. There was not one request denied while I was on this ship.
