Let's start with the positives, both embarkation and disembarkation were both straightforward and we'll managed.
Our balcony cabin was on the 13th deck and was fine, the only negative was the small bathroom and the closeness of the bed to the bed.
The entertainment was very ordinary I'm afraid, the theatre show, which played 3 times every night utilised the identical set of performer's with a slightly different theme each night. The rest of the entertainment was very basic, one performer's efforts at Amy W. would have been laughable if it hadn't been so tragic.
The cruise arranged excursions were OK, but no more than that.
The worst part of the cruise was the complimentary food, both in the 2 restaurants and 2 buffets. None of the food arrived hot and we sent a lot back. We complained and spoke to the restaurant manager, but despite his concern nothing changed, so much so that we spent €360 on speciality dining and if that was MSC's plan it worked.
The ship is very nice, very sparkly and stunning in parts. The Sports Bar is good and I really enjoyed my 7 day pass to the Thermol Spa.
Overall it was a disappointment and my Wife has stated she won't cruise with MSC again. I'd be prepared to give them another chance, as I believe everyone deserves one.
Finally the staff were OK, not as professional as NCL.
There is no way of not paying the mandatory service charge and when service is substandard this sucks.

14 night itinerary with 7 day subtrip for French passengers embarking in Martinique or Guadeloupe (Barbados for me). Didn't like bright atrium with glitter stairs, cabin OK, main gripe was marketplace buffet - food at best warm and often cold. Bacon only American and tasteless - illogical layout with egg, bacon fried bread and tomatoes all at different points! No wonder cold by the time you eat! Also they put toast butter and jam in three different places. Fruit juice from machine and watery. Fixed dining OK but one night they gave cocktail party for solos but at 7:30 when dinner is at 7! Went to the one in week 2 when it was 6:30 but overmanaged by 6 girls from entertainment crew competing like team from the apprentice to be top girl - kept moving us an adding seats-glad to have to go at 7. Entertainment poor - evening shows good but only 40 minutes and not every night and 3 were repeated and all featured the same acts of juggler acrobat etc with different background music. Michael Jackson guy was good. Apart from that a few banal music quizzes and boom boom on pool deck. Sport bar very American and showed basketball and not our football even though few Americans on board. Bar list had a number of craft beers but none available just loads of cold fizzy lagers. Only one lounge with good seats- mostly plastic elsewhere. Hard to find outside places in shade but not enclosed and either smoky or claustrophobic. Nothing like the experience I had on Virtuosa - and be prepared for choas at airport coming home

Just returned from a two week Caribbean Cruise on MSC Seaside travelling as a solo passenger in a deluxe double inside cabin, number 14111. I had special assistance to get onboard which went smoothly. Cabin was clean and spacious enough and the cabin steward, Eduardo, helpful and polite throughout. The bar staff and waiters work extremely long hours and are ALL exceptionally attentive and good at their jobs. However, their hard work is sometimes let down by slightly chaotic dinner service due to the sheer number of guests at each sitting and poor communication. I ate at the buffet a few times and there was plenty of choice of food and more flexibility in timings but preferred to eat at the Seashore Restaurant where I was assigned the early sitting at 7pm. We were hurried out at the end of the meal so the staff could prep for the next sitting at 9.15pm. The food was okay, always lukewarm and, in my opinion, disappointing compared to other cruise experiences. There was little menu choice, lack of flavour and portions were sometimes tiny, sometimes huge. I recommend asking for extra vegThe ice cream is delicious! The seafood starters were also generally very good. I was seated alone in the middle of the dining room for the first 2 nights although I had asked the head waiter to seat me with others after the first night's rather uncomfortable experience. I moved to a table with other solos and couples and it was pleasant from then on. We all had drinks packages but generally had to request drinks rather than be offered refills. I drank soft drinks for the last few days and the waiters never once asked me if I wanted another drink when they were filling up the others' wine glasses. Several times we had to request a bread roll/butter rather than be offered, these are small things but do make a difference to the overall dining experience. I had lunch several times in the Ipanema restaurant, the service and food quality here was superb. Calmer atmosphere and a lovely experience. Entertainment on the ship was varied and there was plenty to do I only went to the shows which were all quite good. You need to reserve your seat but generally there is space for last-minute entries. Lots of dance lessons, quizzes etc for those who are able to partake. Communication on the ship needs to be looked at and improved! I am lucky to be able to speak several languages but came across many examples of poor communication and misunderstandings. I also think it is quite difficult to find one's way around the ship even though there is a map next to each elevator. I got lost several times. On the Norwegian Gem they have the fish on the carpets in the corridors facing forward, makes life a lot easier to know which direction you are walking in! Cleanliness: I found the ship clean and shiny throughout and the cleaners work exceptionally hard day and night. The following comments are from the heart! I found it very difficult to observe the obvious 'them and us' treatment of staff. The management team on the ship treat the overseas employees in an unacceptable and undignified manner at times. This alone would make me hesitate to book another MSC Cruise. I also think that if I am charged a 15% service charge for something that that money should be given to the person who has provided me with that service. Not so!! The company gets the service charge and that, to me, is totally unacceptable. I will be writing to MSC Head Office regarding this and hope they will be more transparent about what the added charge is for! Excursions: My advice is go outside and book with the local tour operators, the ship's excursions are very significantly over-priced and you can do the same trips and activities and the money goes directly to the locals where it is needed. The MSC App: Just 2 words, a nightmare! TV in cabin: You'll get CNN, BBC News and lots of foreign language channels as well as a limited choice of payable ( $9 ) movies, so my advice is download a lot of Netflix entertainment on your device if you enjoy a good film! WIFI: Unreliable and expensive on board and easily obtained when ashore in the cruise terminals or cafes/restaurants

This was our 5th cruise, but first with MSC .Chose this cruise as it visited Guadeloupe and many other cruises don’t and had good itinerary visiting a selection of beautiful islands with only two ‘ sea days. ‘ Balcony cabin was fine , usual size . On entry found the glasses in toilet full of dried toothpaste from previous occupants and no toilet roll , nor hand soap . Contacted housekeeping and that was sorted ( but should not of had to ) Bed was firm enough and comfy apart from feeling the ‘ bobbles ‘ through the sheet from the mattress protector! Food - lack of variety in restaurants- far too many seafood dishes ( 3 out of 5 in main course choice) Lack of chicken dishes on menu , chips always cold as were the soups and they were always too salty . Best thing in the restaurant were the waiters who work so hard and are lovely.have to take my hat off to the waiters as same guys were there every night of our 14 night cruise,so they can’t get much time off. Bar staff again excellent. We had the premium drinks package and never had any problems as our tipples (cognac and decent vodka ) both available . Entertainment- pretty dire , one show was brilliant “ starwalker “: which was Michael Jackson music … unfortunately if you attend it once you can’t go back ! ( yes… really!) rest of shows were average and once was enough. Bands not the best . Quizzes were held outside on deck 16 couldn’t hear the questions for quizzes nor even see the quiz master , went to 2 then gave up! Any other cruise we’ve been on held these inside in lounges . Dress up nights (on sea day nights) usually everyone goes to town dressing up ( and if you don’t dress up you don’t go to the dining room you eat at the buffet) Not the case here … on dress up nights people attended the restaurant in flip flops and jeans ! Wi-Fi - pre paid for my husband and I one device each for whole cruise .Husbands went off after a week. Gosh what a job to get this reinstated with an an arrogant young “tech geek” who insisted that device ‘ it’s from a previous cruise ‘ ….and we hadn’t ever been with MSC before ! Excursions from ship grossly overpriced - you can pick up the same excursions on arrival at port for half the price Needless to say we won’t be with them again as very disappointed .
