While searching for flights to Perth, it was a decision between SQ and Scoot. However, with the variation of prices (with SQ being 3x the price of Scoot), it was quite a no brainer that I selected Scoot.
For TR16, the flight departs Singapore at 3.10pm and arrives Perth at 8.15pm. Target.
Arriving at the departure gate at Changi Airport, I realized that my flight would be a full flight. Boarding time was to be 2.25pm but at 2.45pm, I was still waiting for the boarding call. I eventually boarded at slightly after 3pm.
Considering the flight was full, I was thankful to be able to find space in the overhead compartment for my hand carry luggage.
The flight departed from Singapore at least 30minutes after schedule time. Prior to the flight, I made a purchase for onboard WiFi. Alas. After almost an hour into the flight, I was unable to log-on at all. When I approached a crew, he said to keep trying to refresh the Safari page every 10 minutes .
Can I say that, unless you really need the WiFi, don't bother to waste money on even 20MB of data. The system disconnects you every few minutes and you would have to reboot and re-login or completely lose any connection. Which was, highly irritating for me.
The inflight service of the crew is also horrendously slow and bad. After almost an hour wait, the food cart was still at the front rows. I unbuckled and went to the back galley to ask if I could purchase a hot drink. I was told to return to my seat and wait for the cart to come around. I told the crew at the back, how slow the service was. Nevertheless, I was still sent back to my seat to wait. I eventually got to purchase my drink after 75-80 minutes.
I went to the lavatory right at the back of the plane and, wow. the lavatory lights were in power saving mode. They were so dim, I could barely see my way around the space!
Bad experience. Absolutely. Setting within me, a mind to never consider Scoot again for flights that are beyond 2-3 hours in flight duration!
