Everything worked out well and the flight was on time. I had one hour time to change the plane in Riga but I had even time to go shopping and eating since the first plane was there early and it didn't take too long to get out from the plane.

It would have been an ordinary flight with the ordinary crew announcements and ordinary airBaltic self-paid service if not leaded by the pilot whose enthusiasm and friendly in-flight communication made the passengers feel like welcome guests. Even the routine information from the cockpit - position, altitude, expected arrival time and weather conditions - he delivered in a very personal way added by a doze of interesting information of what one can see through the windows. Needless to say that after the smooth flight he made a soft landing and wished everyone to enjoy the short and light Latvian midsummer night - since the flight arrived just before it.
If I take any more flights by airBaltic - I would wish to have Janis Kristops in the cockpit. Thanks him!

Staff was polite and helpful, everything was great. Flight was on time. A lit of bit turbulent, but u can't chose whether.

OK overall. Negative points:
1. During flights even water is not free.
2. Long delay (>30 mins) to pick up baggage at destination.
3. Flight arrived at final destination with 30 min delay or so.
4. At check-in in Helsinki I was told it costs 30 euros per person (!) to be checked in at the counter. I don't remember seeing that anywhere written on my ticket. However, they said, you can also check in online using the free internet of the airport, which I did. I would be very unhappy if that option were not available.

Note that scheduled arrival time was 2:25am. This is fine, and may explain reduced service at the airport.

Also note that choosing seats during online check in costs money, and as we were 3 people we were worried whether we would be seating together. In the end it worked fine and they found us seats together.

I also had to pay 50 euro for 1 checked in bag, as the normal price included only hand luggage.

The flight was punctual and the cabin crew polite and smart. The cabin was spacious and plenty of overhead bin space. The online check in is ludicrous. Why you can’t check in for your return flight when you do your outbound is beyond comprehension, finding a good WiFi signal or an internet connection on holiday or even on a business trip to remoter places is not that easy. This is a major downside of this otherwise pretty good airline. Another issue I have is that there is only one toilet for the use of all the economy passengers, which is the vast majority. On my flight there were only 2 business passengers with a toilet to use between them. My last problem is not restricted to this airline, announcements from the cockpit are pointless because they can’t be heard! Too low in volume and distorted.
