“Not much choice in Canada really”
Review of Air Canada

Reviewed 20 February 2018

Well, flying in Canada in the winter you have to expect delays. Weather specifically. I was delayed two times in Edmonton before we could even take off so my 1 pm flight turned into 6pm departure. The loading at the gate is a disappointment as you are classed by how much you fly and not when you book. More miles? priority seating. Low miles? you are the last to board the aircraft. Seats are the usual and cramped. headphone jacks do not work in a lot of seats so prepare to half-hear what is playing if at all. Service for drinks etc. as business class and closer to the front get served first so prepare to wait and wait. Leaving To was similar but due to the de-icing required it was again delayed 1.5 hours. At least they kept the flight from being cancelled as many more carriers were including West jet. Overall the experience is better than WJ but barely. I guess if you or your company can afford it go business class as there is no first class as far as I can tell. Book ahead and pick your seat. Aisle or window asap to keep yourself up near the front of the Aircraft for better service and deplaning. otherwise you have to stand and wait for everybody ahead of you to get off. The Pilots are good as landing and take off are pretty smooth regardless of weather.

Flew Air Canada's B767 from TO to San Fran on our way to Kauai. The departure was delayed about an hour due to relatively heavy snowfall and required deciding of the aircraft. The aircraft interior looked rather new and refreshing. Cabin crews were all professional and friendly. Ended up buying some cheese and fruit platter and they were pretty decent for the price. Arrived in SFO slightly delayed but we had enough time to catch our connecting United flight to Kauai. After flying Air Canada more than three dozen times over the past 20 years, I find more of these younger generation FAs to be more polite and courteous than the older bunches. Great flight overall on Canada's flag carrier.

We boarded on time. Once seated and prepared for take off we were informed that the wrong navigation system had been installed on the plane and that it would be replaced. We were assured it would only be a minor delay of 20 minutes. Fast forward three and half hours later we were still sitting on the tarmac (actually plane was still attached to the terminal). We kept getting 1/2 hr updates that the problem would be fixed soon. Pilots left and flight crew was replaced. Passengers had to remain in their seats and were not allowed off the plane. In total we sat for 3 and half hours before plane departed for a four and half hour flight. Total time on plane was 8 hrs. To compensate for the inconvenience we were each given a bag of pretzels and a glass of water. Flight crew informed us that Air Canada does have an extra plane on standby in case something like this occurs. However, this option was never used. It would have been nice to be able to get up and return to the terminal while the problem was fixed. It would have allowed us to stretch our legs. My partner developed severe swelling of the legs because of this long delay. We initially thought it would develop into a deep vein thrombosis and had it checked out at hospital. Over all not impressed with Air Canada for this flight. They could have let the passengers disembark and could have given them something better to eat than a small package of pretzels. The least they could have done was offer the snacks for free when the plane was in flight.

Flew from Edmonton to Vancouver then direct from Vancouver to Shanghai. Service was excellent. The flight attendents were near by if you needed anything.

We were flying from Orlando, home to Ottawa, Canada. While checking in at Orlando airport, the luggage carousel was not working so everyone's luggage was piling up behind the attendants at the Air Canada check in counter. The attendants were professional, polite and efficient, even when some customers were rude and nasty with them. I commend these employees for maintaining their cool and handling all customers efficiently and politely.
