“African flight”
Review of Air Namibia

Reviewed 4 December 2017

Many people flying to Namibia or other Southern African countries will fly via London and Johannesburg, but there is no need to fly longer and further South when you can fly more locally and quicker. We fly from our local airport(Birmingham) to Frankfurt and connect with the Air Namibia flight for a 10 hour overnight flight, getting you to Windhoek for 7 am, great if you are holidaying there but there are also multiple flights to other African countries. The seats are comfortable, the staff polite and caring. The food is average but certainly no worse than any other long haul airline. Plenty of water available during the night. Films and tv more than adequate. Main issue is you are unable to use online check in, not good in this day and age.

I was really impressed with the cabin crew and prompt boarding times. Food on flight was tasty and since it was a short flight there was no on board entertainment.

It was pretty amazing how nice cabin crew were! We booked with Air Namibia because it was the cheapest flight for an already pretty expensive one month trip. Full cans of beer were well appreciated after a 15 hour transatlantic flight

Air Namibia flight was delayed no attempt was made to contact us, we only learnt of the delay or rather cancellation on arrival at the airport at 4.30am. We did not arrive in Windhoek until 4pm effectively throwing our onward journey plans into disarray. The staff in Johannesburg promised to accommodate us one night in Windhoek. We had to accept because we were now stranded in Windhoek as it was too late to travel onward. Upon arrival In Windhoek the staff staff were not informed about the arrangement and calling me a liar just so I can get a free hotel. The ground staff in Johannesburg Lied to us and the staff in Windhoek were very unprofessional and rude. After much to and fro we were finally put up in a hotel getting there at 8pm completely exhausted and losing a precious full day of our 7 day vacation.

I have never experienced a check in facility so full, so hot and so chaotic as at Windhoek on our return flight. The queues were non existent with passengers being directed all over the place. It too more than 40 mins to get checked in then we joined a long queue for security checks - it took over an hour in sweltering heat - and our American friend almost passed out.
Once through there we have a further totally cramped area to clear passport control.
Only when we were in the departure lounge was some semblance of order returned.
It is probably unfair to blame Air Namibia but they need to take action with the appropriate authorities to sort out this chaos.
