“Air NZ getting much worse”
Review of Air New Zealand

Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Air NZ used to be a good airline, but bit by bit they are slipping...
They used to have reclining seats, but now they just move a few cm from full upright to slightly less than full upright - no chance of actually resting on the flight at all.

The staff at the gate were also completely useless and ourselves and a jetstar flight were all packed in a small room without any information so the boarding was a mess and of course the flight then left late, even though all the passengers were waiting around well in advance - not impressed - will take Quantas to Aussie next time.

This was our first time with Air New Zealand, it wont be our last.
They were so attentative, polite and friendly. We were fortunate enough to go Premium Economy, the seats were wider, foot rest and the meals were fantastic.
Highly recommend

Air NZ offers a few different fares in economy for this length of trip from just a seat to the works which includes meal drinks and entertainment. Specifically for this trip I would not want to go for anything less than the works as the flight is over 6 hours. Before flying I decided to book my seat and went for the exit row 50A whilst having excellent leg room this window seat only really has half a window to look through. The inflight entertainment had a good selection and also gives you the opportunity to order drinks directly to your seat without having to ask a crew member. You can also purchase drinks and food if you only have a seat ticket. Overall the flight was a good one. My only complaint would be that the seat was not as comfortable as I have experienced with Qantas on similar routes on their A330.

I hear they've won airline of the year award. While I don't know what makes them so discernible from other top airlines as I haven't been on every airline, I can say that I certainly understand they offer a great product. It's clean and spacious, and offered at reasonable rates.

There isn't much to say about short haul flights in New Zealand and Australia. You pay a full fare ticket, but in large, the in-air service is no-frills. You get a drink, but otherwise it feels like it's the year 2000. It's s stark contrast to their long haul flights, which are amazing. They spend too much time on their fancy safety videos, and not enough time on the individual flight experience. No TV, no internet, no entertainment, no magazine, safety card filled with errors... these aren't things I necessarily need... but I am curious as to how they're so behind with short haul quality when their long haul quality is so far ahead.

Oh, also, airline staff did absolutely nothing when another passenger drunkely punted my computer wire because he tripped over it... it was flat on the ground and plugged into the wall, not obstructing any walkways. It was awkward, to say the least.
