A simple 737 with many empty seats -- boarding was easy and inflight service most pleasant.
Bumpy at times but no problems.

We had a one way ticket from Phoenix to Charlotte that left at 9:50 in the morning. Boarding was easy. Lots of room on this plane. Flight attendants were top notch! Each one greeted us with a smile and expressed they are sincere concern for our comfort. Smooth takeoff and Landing. I had not flown in about 8 years. It was on a different Airline. I must say this American Airlines flight was a pleasure. Even though the plane was full I still felt like I had plenty of room. I ordered the turkey and swiss croissant for an in-flight snack. It was fresh and tasty. I would not hesitate to fly American Airlines again.

Our experience with American has always been good in the past . On our recent trip, flights to Orlando were on time. However, in Charlotte for our change of planes we encountered a situation we have never encountered before, Prior to take off and as we were leaving the terminal when we are instructed to turn our electronic devices off, a man in the row across from us did not and smarted off to the attendant. The next thing we knew we were on our way back to the terminal where the man was escorted off the plane. I have to give the attendant credit as she was a petite person and the man was three times her size in heighth and girth. And the pilot still got us in Orlando almost to the time we were originally expected. Flights back were delayed, but we were accommodated onto a different flight. However, there were not enough people at the American Airlines Service desk to help. Some people waited for hours as there was only one person assisting. Unacceptable.

On our outbound flight to a ship in Miami, AA would not let us use the Admiral lounge when we had a 3 hr layover between flights. They said the lounge is not for domestic flights. Returning from Barcelona was another disappointment. The foreign leg of the trip was great with seats converting to beds and a very nice Admiral lounge in NY. But then we boarded for home. Ugh! This was not what we paid for. The plane was old and seats were uncomfortable. They had tiny dropdown monitors every 3rd row, so we either had to watch what they showed. They gave us iPads, but there was no place for them while we ate. This was no where near first class.

This flight was surprisingly good. The seats were new and were a real improvement. The staff was polite and friendly.
