We travelled to Dubai with BA on Monday 7th November 2022 travelling Premium Economy out and Business class in. I went on line to reserve two seats only to find there were no spaces where we could sit next or even close to each other. Plus I had to pay around £40 per seat! BA now allow passengers to pay and pre book seats so the seating arrangement is no longer done by BA thereby surrendering any control over the organisation of passenger seating. I am surprised that BA charge at all for premium seats. I notice that the same applies on the way back when I travelled business class and I also note that the cost of seat selection is over £100 each!! BA ought to reveal this added cost before a customer books the flight. Are they now competing with the likes of Easyjet and Ryanair? A big, big come down for what was once a great company. I have a BA flight to South Africa booked in December and Florida next May...business class. I will have to consider cancelling and switching to Virgin where its first class seats are about the same as BA business class but they do not charge for seat bookings and you don't find yourself split from your partner having paid a fortune.
