“Oh Dear... BA have declined horribly”
Review of British Airways

Reviewed 29 November 2022

We travelled to Dubai with BA on Monday 7th November 2022 travelling Premium Economy out and Business class in. I went on line to reserve two seats only to find there were no spaces where we could sit next or even close to each other. Plus I had to pay around £40 per seat! BA now allow passengers to pay and pre book seats so the seating arrangement is no longer done by BA thereby surrendering any control over the organisation of passenger seating. I am surprised that BA charge at all for premium seats. I notice that the same applies on the way back when I travelled business class and I also note that the cost of seat selection is over £100 each!! BA ought to reveal this added cost before a customer books the flight. Are they now competing with the likes of Easyjet and Ryanair? A big, big come down for what was once a great company. I have a BA flight to South Africa booked in December and Florida next May...business class. I will have to consider cancelling and switching to Virgin where its first class seats are about the same as BA business class but they do not charge for seat bookings and you don't find yourself split from your partner having paid a fortune.

My wife and I recently flew British Airways from Cairo, Egypt to Philadelphia, PA, with a connection in London (Heathrow). Out flight to London was to depart Cairo at 7:10 am but was delayed by at least a half hour. That was not the problem. The problem was that this leg of our trip was scheduled to be about a 5 1/2 hour flight on an Airbus 321 Neo, a plane which is totally unfit for a flight of that length. British Airways has obviously fitted out these planes to maximize the number of passengers. There were two of the smallest bathrooms I have ever experienced on a flight to accommodate the entire economy section of the plane. There were constantly long lines to get to them. And we were offered nothing more than a small bottle of water for the entire flight. Not even a pack of pretzels or peanuts. While there was the opportunity to buy a limited number of food or drink options, I've never been on a domestic or foreign flight of more than an hour or two that offered nothing in the way of complimentary refreshments, not even coffee or tea, and we've done our fair share of traveling. In addition, the seats were the most uncomfortable airline seats I've ever experienced. They were very narrow, had inadequate legroom, and the seat backs were fixed with no option to recline them even a couple inches. British Airways, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Even our flight attendant admitted that the conditions on this flight were totally unacceptable. Come on British Airways. You're supposed to be a reputable airline, not a no frills budget airline. Totally unacceptable!

The plane had the smallest, tightest, most uncomfortable seats I've even been in. It was supposed to be a 5 plus hour flight which hit 6 hours because of delays and during that time we received 1 SMALL BOTTLE OF WATER!!! Not even an offer of a soft drink or a cup of tea let alone a pretzel or a peanut. There were 2 toilets for more than 120 people! By the end of the flight there was a line down the aisle, no toilet paper and wadded up paper towels in the sink. It was worse than a port-a-potty!! The bathroom was so small that I could put both of my elbows on the walls at the same time. We complained to the flight attendant (NONE of this was his fault) and he agreed that if was a very long flight for NO AMENITIES. My husband and I were so furious that we wanted to cancel our second flight with BA but were unable to do it. As someone who travels a lot, I can confidently say that it was the WORST flight I have even been on. I don't intend to repeat that experience.
You should be ashamed of yourselves! It was an embarrassment!

I was very excited to fly my first business class flight on British air. I booked with points therefore I’m not gonna complain too much because I got to lay down!
Let me start off by the saying the seats were strange. It was a 2-4-2 lay out. I was in the window seat traveling solo.
I sat down in my backwards, facing seat, and a fellow traveler sat in the seat beside me, facing forward. There is a screen in between us, which is not allowed to be put up until you’re in the air. So this makes for an awkward stare contest, lol. We did make some small talk, which was nice but it’s still very awkward.
Once in the air, I asked if I could put up the screen if he minded and he said sure. Every time the flight attendant came along she pushed a button and it bang the screen down as loud as you can imagine. A couple times I was relaxing and laying back, and I jumped out of my seat . I asked if she could come around the other way and she said no. She was pretty rude actually. She did come around once so it was possible.
I did get a good sleep though on my side as the seats are pretty narrow and I’m not a big person. So I was very happy about sleeping. You have to step over the outside passenger sleeping if going to washroom. Mobility issues would be a problem

I had to ask for drinks a couple times which surprised me , the meals were OK not great I’ve had better in economy on WestJet.

I have flown on British air one other time in economy, and it was great! The flight attendants were so nice. This was very underwhelming, which really surprised me because I was so excited because my last experiencing economy was pretty darn good.

I would fly this plane again if I was with another person, and the point deal was good for business class. Otherwise I would probably look for a different plane, especially traveling solo. The fellow beside me paid over 7000$$$ for his return trip, and I almost fell off my chair. Actually, that would’ve been impossible because the seats were too narrow to fall off. Lol.

If I had to just pick one thing that bothered me the most, it was that sliding screen that the flight attendant kept hitting down and the bang. I just wish she would not have done that and probably I would’ve had a better experience.

Paid over £2500 for two Premium Economy seats London - San-Francisco, returning from Las Vegas. I was quoted a price which, although considerably more than economy, I accepted as we thought with the larger seats, extra legroom and promised better meals we would treat ourselves. My wife is not happy flying and quite anxious so would require some comforting during the flight which would require me to sit alongside her. I paid the whole balance 4 months in advance of the flight in the mistaken belief that I could ensure we sit together. This is in fact the case, however BA want another £264 for me to select seats for both legs of the trip.
If I say I'm disgusted with this ripoff additional hidden charge I would be understating my current feelings towards BA. It just appears to be another way to extort as much money as possible from their customers.
Needless to say, I will not travel with BA again.
