I recently flew from PMI-LGW and return - The first time back to England, and my first flights for 17 years

Neither Wizz Air or EasyJet were practical due to unfavourable flight times and charging more than the flights were worth for luggage.

British Airways had good flight times, low prices and very reasonable (€18 per flight for 23kg) luggage charges - At €126 return, BA were the best AND most economical option.

Both flights were on time, the aircraft were spotlessly clean, at 6'4'' tall, the black leather seats were comfortable and the legroom was adequate. The cabin crew on both flights were polite, friendly and professional.

The food and drinks available were good quality and fairly reasonably priced - I had the Meat Ploughmans and IPA beer (€10 +/- total) on both flights.

I have flown more than 80 times in the past 50 years with various airlines on various propeller and jet powered aircraft, including one helicopter transfer between Gatwick and Heathrow.

Flying was a different experience 'back in the day', we are now in the age of the 'budget airline' and nostalgia aside...

British Airways are the best 'modern' airline I've flown with

Delayed departure (no explanation) but this is the norm with BA, awful time keeping.

Packed plane serviced by an indifferent crew. Was funny watching the stewardess who appeared to have a very short attention span giving out the free water and crisps to the same passengers several times within minutes of doing it the first time. We ourselves got two packs of crisps each in a matter of minutes. When we indicated we had some she just shrugged and kept on giving!

One of our cases was damaged beyond repair when we collected our luggage. We were prepared for a protracted battle with BA to get it sorted. However, to our amazement it was all done and dusted within a week! New case (nice one too) and insurance settlement for stuff nicked from case. Well done BA. If only this service was translated into the actual flight!

On 25 Jan, my original direct flight Stockholm was cancelled last min and the staff put me in another flight to Stockholm (Sas) via Paris (BA) and confirmed the luggage will go all the way to Stockholm but my luggage stayed in Paris and my kids had no clothes for a few days.

The new BA flight was one hour late and we had to run around the Paris airport just mins before the connecting SAS flight left as the BA staff put us in 2 terminals that are so far apart that the bus transfer took around 30 minutes including time waiting for bus. My wife have a medical condition so all these stress is not good.

I am furious and very disappointed with BA, it ruined my holiday.

The only good thing is that they let me know they found my luggage in Paris the next day but still took a few days to deliver.

Really bad experience. The airport is overpacked and understaffed. The toilets are messy. Flights are delayed, and there is never any apology for anything.

It's overpriced and outstandingly bad.

We had 2 vomiting children and I had collapsed, unconscious a few days before flying. We were on a non refundable ticket. We thought under the circumstances, with medical letters, BA may offer a gesture of goodwill and give us a refund / credit. We would have even taken just the refunded tax but most of it gets eaten up with their cancellation fees. Call centre staff had no sympathy and were so hard to understand. They did allow us to rebook but travel would have to be within a hear of the date you booked the ticket rather than date of travel so we didn't really have much of a window to rebook. We fly with BA three times a year but they said it wouldn't make a difference even if you travel with them 15 times a year.
