We were able to enjoy a fabulous flight to Tel Aviv on the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
We sat in Premium Economy, and were impressed with the ample leg room, internet service to check WhatsApp/emails and similar, food, clean bathrooms, friendly service, and the ability to communicate on screen with others in the plane.
The check-in service and security was smooth and friendly. The price was fair.
The only concern was the airline leaving luggage for 2 different families in our travel group. It took approx. 4/5 days to receive this checked luggage, and was a huge blow for both parties.
We continue to strongly encourage all to use hand luggage space wisely for clothing.
El Al at times can include large student groups. This experience can occasionally be loud and slightly disturbing.
With limited direct flights available to Israel from our home base in Toronto, the Dreamliner aircraft and pricing compared to Air Canada make the ticket purchase a no brainer.
The flight never happened due to Covid and I am still waiting for a reply after 16 months. That is the most ridiculous experience I ever had.
The flight itself was reasonable with a good selection of movies and food. My main issue was with customer service. They are only reachable by whatsapp or facebook and the communication was very slow. Basically they put you on a queue and answer when they want. You then have to quickly respond back in 30min or lose your spot. This was quite annoying (especially if you are on a different time zone) and it took me more than week to get my question answered. When I finally did reach them, they did handle my case efficiently but the wait was just unreasonable. What's wrong with a plain old phone number that you can call up?
There customer service sucks first of all you can't reach them only they WhatsApp or need to call Israeli phone when they decide to work which is of course 1am Eastern standard time and after you reach them you get there attitude and ofcourse not wanting to help but being rude and obnoxious after we explained to them that we cant fly because of Israel's rules of not allowing american people into there country they still wouldn't issue us a refund!!!! How rude is that !!!!! Just will be disputing the charges !!!! The only way to go with this company !!!!
