We had to change at Newark, then Houston before going onto Guatemala City. The number of changes was a pain as we had to wait so often at airports. However, the service and refreshments/ food on the flights was good.

The only reason I am giving United 2 stars is the flight was smooth and on time. Kudos to their aircrew. However their carry-on policy is apparently very arbitrary. Our carry-on bags were purchased to their specifications as we had heard they were very restrictive.
We had no problems on our flight down but on our return there were issues. We were the first in line for the group 3 line. As we were having our tickets scanned by the gate attendant she claimed our bags were too big and "proved" it to us by lightly placing the bags on the sizer and when it didn't fall in she started creating tags to force us to check them. Meanwhile a passenger from the group 1 line walks by us with a bag at least as large as ours. We pointed it out and she claimed that she herself had checked it earlier and it fit. To prove it she called him back and asked him to check its size and he did manage to stuff it in with a bit of difficulty.
We said we can do that with our bags and with less trouble and at her insistence proceeded to do so. She took her luggage tags turned around and returned to her desk without a word or apology.
There was plenty of room on the flight for carry-ons so that was not an issue. Since we didn't pay extra for the group 1 or 2 seating it seems we were tagged to pay extra for checking in multiple bags.
I will fly with them if I must but only if I must.
Everything was on time in ORD airport and in the Montego Bay, transfer from Airport to resort was fast with great way view.
Nice seats, good food and plenty of it, great great staff, good entertainment but beware, old plane with no seat power at all. Can watch entertainment on own devices but they won’t last a transatlantic flight.
Because the price paid, we flew eastward to Dulles, Virginia Airport, then transited to final flight going west to our destination. Nothing to complain about, the Airbus 330 plane has an interesting design for our outbound flights with a four-hour layover - the tray table and seat back pocket placements made it to feel less crowded, pluses! Our flight back was an early one, 6AM, We changed plane at Chicago, O'Hare, letting us get home earlier.
