“Good leg room (exit row), narrow seats, ok food.”
Review of Virgin Atlantic Airways

Reviewed 22 July 2019

737-300- Thankfully i purchased exit row seats 50 A&C, due to this there was great leg room for such a tall person (6'6), but the seats are very narrow, 38inch waist and just got between the 2 arm rests of the seat without having to squeeze in. The in flight entertainment was ok but not the best I've had, the food was ok as far as airline food can go, mashed potato that's been steamed is never a great choice but what can you do when that's all that is on offer. Thankfully it wasn't too long a flight and from flying several times i had a jumper to hand as the aircon blowers are often a little chilly, needless to say, the jumper was needed. The return leg was pretty much the same but a little quicker as the aircraft was needed again that evening so the engines were wound up to the max and taken to a height of 39000ft.

I have used Virgin a few times before and have never found issue, this time we were on an a330-200. The plane was very nice however in economy the seats were not as comfortable or spacious as when we flew on the 747 400 also the second serving of food had no choice just one option which will not suit all tastes. I would say this had made me feel that the service has dropped to the standard of the other carriers in england therefore not worth the extra price virgin charge. On a good note the service provide by the crew on board was excellent espcially the entertaining cabin manager, in this regard they are still superior to the other carriers.

We upgraded to Economy Delight at Heathrow and we were lucky enough to not have anyone else on the row of three with us, so the flight from the get go was fab! The upgrade is definitely worth it on a long haul flight as there is so much more legroom. The plane itself was very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was good with a nice selection to choose from. And with constant refreshments during the flight, it made for a very good flight. I look forward to flying with them again!

Good breakfast in the lounge and good food/drink/service throughout the flight. Had a wonderful juicy steak - dont know how they managed it with limited in-flight facilities. Also VA's upper class seating arrangements far superior to BA's ridiculous for and aft style.
Cabin staff also sorted out a problem I had had trying to pre-order a duty free item.
Only regret is that VA stopped the day-time flight from Newark as this was more convenient -eg easier to get to by public transport and much more reasonably priced hotels nearby.

This experience was by far one of my better ones. From the checkout desk with their happy accommodating staff both in Manchester and USA to the flight it was truly professional. It was nice to see more mature staff on the flight too, virgin is obviously not ageist and why should it be? Staff and food were really good, regular refreshment and accommodating staff. Seats could have been a little more comfortable but all in all, highly recommended.
