Le Pilori is a great Michelin-star restaurant in Belgium where you have to book a table months in advance.
You can always find the great food, excellent and friendly service, nice ambiance, but the best thing personally for me is their sommelier François who knows how to surprise even the connoisseurs without pulling a fortune off their pockets. Always in a good mood, smiling, ready to give you explanations about the wines and the terroir
Besides the very interesting selection of wines from the unknown winemakers and domaines, the food was just awesome. And the cheese... no, not "platter", but a "trolley" is always impressive even after so many years :) Thanks and see you soon!

I live in Brussels and yet, I try to go to this place every other month. Bad thing, while it's easy to have a lunch as it's open every day, the dinner is a completely different story. You can have a dinner only on Thursday and Friday and one weekend every month (check the schedule on their web-site). So, reservation is absolutely necessary! Think about 4-7 weeks (!) in advance, depending on the day (I had troubles trying to get a table on Friday 4 weeks before the dinner and it was not a holiday and had to move it to Thursday).

It is a gastronomic restaurant, but let me put it this way: you can eat, what is served :) I am just kidding, but there are some restaurants that get too much into "haute cuisine" forgetting that people would like to eat good and tasty food either. But here you are talking about balance. The wines are great and the sommelier is very helpful and nice person too. Despite being torn apart by all the visitors, he always finds some time to talk a bit about the wine, joke a little. The "wine menus" (discovery, exception, classic) are so well paired with the dishes that would just blow you away. They find nice and interesting champagnes (like Search Cuvée Fidèle - Vouette et Sorbée, for example). And their cheese trolley is something (I won't be giving you the photo, letting you discover what it is :)

The interior of the restaurant is modern, yet, very cozy. Food is fresh, tasty (from the main dish to the sauces), and the menus, I think, change every 4-5 weeks.

The only downside is that this place is really off the main routes and first time you come, you'd probably be surprise to find something like this. But, believe me, it's really worth the pain :)

Leave Brussels behind via the leafy " Foret de Soigne " past Napoleons Waterloo bank and suddenly you find yourself in the open plan and bare fields of "La Wallonie" . Hidden therein one of the many dead and dilapidated villages of the region with some manicured bungalows hugging a small hamlet of old houses slowly being taken over by Ivy . In the middle of the one street village " Le Pilori " with its washed out sign . Open the door and you will enter a place with a space but welcoming decor with high end and varied Light fixtures . It is bright and colourful . More important every client , and it is an eclectic gathering , looks like a person that knows how to enjoy and appreciate good food and good wine . Better again many look like they are regulars . This is now a one star Michelin but less pretentious and less stuck up you will not find . The service is friendly , personal and attentive and very well informed . The food was superlative in all aspects . The Somelier is generous in sharing his immense know how and will not disappoint . I was adviced to go for the fish which I did and it was deserving of all accolades .
