First time for me at the Barley Mow, with a group of 20 artists from a local group. Not a teenager in sight in our group, and a gathering with very varied tastes.

The first thing that hits you is how good the staff are. Really friendly and helpful, and they needed to be with a gathering that between us probably ordered eight different choices of main course from Sausage and Mash to the Christmas Menu of Roast Turkey etc. It all arrived at the same time and everyone seemed very happy all round. Well done the Barley Mow. You did really well

We went to this pub for the first time yesterday. Lovely log fires burning on our arrival. Friendly staff greeted us. Efficient table service.
Roasts dominated team menu as it was Sunday. However I had salmon on vegetables with roast potatoes . Our friends had vegetarian option. It was a brie cheese and mushroom pastry parcel with very unusual and they said yummy veg. My husband's roast was big and hot but served on plates that were far too small making it difficult to appreciate and eat. All the veg were hidden under heat. Delicious puds.
We will return. Also a very nice area for walks.

Went here with family for Sunday lunch. The pub has a lovely open fire and warm atmosphere. The service was just right but the food was very average the beef was well done which I think should be medium at most. The roasts were crisp but dry in the middle. Nothing special at all. Go for a drink but don't expect the food to blow you away. No need for a special trip.

Having a rare non work/non golf day we decided to give this lil boozer a go. And pleasantly surprised we were! Greeted as if we were long lost friends (not sickly, just right!) attentive, with a sense of humour and conversation. Beer (Badgers) was good and well kept ... and the open fire on an autumnal afternoon set the scene beautifully. So the grub? Well a polite word of warning, caution with the soup if you’re having a main! It was lovely, but a meal in itself (no regrets but I’m now bloated and missed out on an extra pint!) - Food was very good and reasonably priced. Under new owners since May 2017, this little crew deserves to do well .... give ‘em a go .. we know we’ll be back!

I understand the establishment is in new hands and it was my first visit despite living in the area for 25 years. I was so looking forward to the visit as many friends rave about the ale and ambiance of the place. Doh… One beer pump of four operational, lots of apologies and lots of lager and bottled beers on offer. Doh…just not the same… it was a Wednesday for goodness sake. Okay moving on, a nice decor and the pies were lovely but no butter on the boiled potatoes and steamed veg from a previous era! Very earnest service, who actually knew the failings put up a good show. We will give a second chance.
