The hotel actually consists of two buildings located right next to each other, a three star hotel and a two star guesthouse. Both buildings offer a view of the river provided you get a river front room. While the hotel seems to offer more comfort, the guesthouse rooms are very basic. And so was the scarce breakfast ( the same every morning). My wife and I were part of a group and stayed at one of the guestrooms facing the backyard and were happy to leave after two moskito filled nights. Since there is absolutely nothing to do in the village and electricity blackouts are frequent this is actually a place that one wants to leave after one has taken the recommended tours, boating on the Mekong river, visiting other Mekong islands and the spectacular waterfalls. Although we did not care for the hotel we still recommend the area and the Mekong islands which are quite worthwhile visiting.

We stayed for a few days in Aug 2013 in Philippe's hotel and loved every part of it : we really felt at home, the owner and hotel manager is always present for his guests and always ready to help. The hotel is on the island coast and our room had a view of the river. It was very clean and well maintained. The food was excellent, typically Lao, and made from fresh ingredients (Fish is coming for the market on the same day). It was the perfect place to enjoy the serenity of Muang Khong.

This looked like the best deal 'in town': good location about a 100m walk from the rest of the hotels (which made it nice and quiet) and well maintained overall. We were not disappointed. The manager was friendly, we got a slight discount; he was there when we needed something. Nice, spacious room; nice bathroom. All very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. VEry relaxed stay.

Hotel is fine, rooms are pretty, dinner was o.k and location with riverview is very nice. We could even be picked up by boat for a day trip.
The owner is very hospitable, but unfortunately only for french guests, so certainly not for us.
Beds should be renewed.
Very strange the small quantity of tables and chairs on the terrace.
