We stayed here to attend a 40th birthday party nearby for one night. Not many guests for a Saturday night. The hotel is a bit tired it's in need of some fresh decor to enhance the lovely period building. There's a lingering musty smell around the place. Bedroom small and the furniture a bit oppressive for the size of the room. Our room was over the kitchen which had a noisy fan and a view of some horrible courtyard full of rubble and a greenhouse full of old mattresses! Which is a real shame as the staff were lovely, very helpful and friendly nothing too much trouble. The breakfast excellent. Bed comfy the room hot and stuffy. I wouldn't stay here again.

Room Tip: Not over the kitchen

i honestly though i had done this review.
we are so happy we chose the old rectory for our venue for our special day, selina and her staff were fantastic from the start.
firstly seeing us with out prior booking ( we called in on the off chance.) from the start we had no doubt this was going to be our choice. ticked all our boxes, selina was very helpful with the planning taking extra effort to make sure our day was the best it could be.
the day came and we both couldn't be happier with how it went, the food was brilliant (if you get chance try the brownies, honestly..!) the rooms were big and comfy, all our guests saying how well they had slept.
i really am lost for word to say how happy we are with our decision choosing here.

I held my 50th birthday Afternoon Tea at the Old Rectory on 11th June last year. It was perfection. Attention to detail, customer service, quality of food all perfect. Would highly recommend. Looking forward to going for my 60th.

Young girl on the reception desk was lovely she was the only member of staff we saw all evening. She seemed to be doing everything. Room was large and clean but very cold as the radiator was not working rang down to ask if it could be sorted out and she said she would look into it. Went down for a meal in the dining room and mentioned again that the hearing was still not on and she apologised and explained there was a problem with the heating and that they were awaiting an engineer and would find us a portable heater she went on to take our meal order. No other staff to be seen. Absolutely no atmosphere in the dining room it was like a library. As for the food it was well below average for the prices charged myself and my partner were not impressed at all. Would not recommend and would not stay again. Only positive thing about our stay was the lovely young girl who remained calm at all times.

Staff are very friendly and show you to your room. They also explained that there was a wedding party the night we stayed and advised us of this.
Room was a good size and bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast in the morning was a nice touch as well, with a nice selection of continental breakfast and also a full cooked breakfast.
