Hi Damon,

Whilst I can confirm that this is correct and we did need to cancel your table due to a twice-postponed wedding deciding to hire the whole building at short notice; we did book yourselves another table at a nearby restaurant of the same standard of food and service as ourselves. We did also try to let you know that as an apology we had added two complimentary bottles of prosecco for yourselves to your table at this restaurant, however, you continued to hang up on us so we couldn't inform you. Whilst we appreciate this wasn't your intention for your 40th Birthday we believe we tried our hardest to rectify the situation for you.

Best Wishes,

Martin

The place and the grounds were really lovely. The room was okay, but when it's described as a cosy suite, it was not. It was a large room with two small soft chairs, an old very small wardrobe and no refrigerator. The bed was very comfortable and the room itself was quite clean, although we did find some confetti on the floor. The bathroom was adequate.
The hotel décor was lovely filled with many period furniture items in a multitude of rooms. The restaurant we we allocated to use for breakfast and dinner was basic and a bit uncomfortable and extremely loud due to it's acoustics. The breakfast freshly cooked food was okay, but the so called hot food at the buffet was cold and by 9:30am had quite obviously been hanging around for much too long. Dinner was cooked nicely, but the menu was very limited in choice.
The service was the most disappointing. We waited on average 30 minutes to be served breakfast and 55 mins+ for our main meals at night. We waited about 25 minutes to be served drinks from the bar during the early evening and there were no snacks available such as peanuts or crisps.
Our room tariff included access to a small storeroom for milk and soft drinks, plus snacks it said. There was never any milk, the soft drinks were warm and snacks amounted to some boiled sweets. Apparently, we were told later, that the refrigerator was broken. When we asked for milk to be delivered to our room, firstly it was forgotten then on the second occasion it took another 20 minutes. All in all the service was not consistent with what you would expect from such a prestigious place. Hence our disappointment.

Hi Stout31,

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Apologies that you didn't find your Cosy Suite up to standard, I will certainly pass on your comments to our Bedrooms Manager.

Regarding your wait, and the buffet breakfast we, along with the rest of the hospitality industry at the moment, have experienced great challenges in regards to staffing as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. We have tried our best to adapt with minimal disruption to our guests, and unfortunately, as we strive to do our best, disruptions still do occur. I can only apologize that your stay was impacted by this.

The Pantry room fridge was indeed fixed after your stay, to which I can only apologise it wasn't in service during.

Many thanks, and we hope to welcome you back for another stay soon so we can provide you with the Hawkstone service that we pride ourselves on.

Many thanks,

Martin

A beautiful hotel, with superb gardens an absolutely fantastic re development of a historic house. A relatively small menu but great dishes so you don’t really need much more. The goats cheese curd with honey is a standout dish . The service from Callum was exceptional and friendly . The salon restaurant is a beautiful place to enjoy dinner . Wine menu is a little limited but again probably due to covid pressure.
The standard rooms are nice but only offer double beds . It’s defiantly worth upgrading to a suite with king size and full bathroom.
For a business that hit it’s one year anniversary when March 2020 covid lockdown came and has traded intermittently till May 2021 that probably relies on its weddings I can imagine that as the team become more used to their roles and each other the service will move from good to great .
Overall a relaxing experience and for the type of country house hotel it is offers good value.

Our daughter held her wedding at this venue it was perfection personified. From the second we arrived every need was met. Not only is the venue amazing but the staff and level of service is simply wonderful. The complete day was seamless if you are looking for a fairytale wedding then this has to be the venue for you. Thank you for making their day truly memorable. Just a few people that have to be named Laura and holly the wedding coordinators Martin Frank Paula and Alison were amazing.

Oh dear , maybe it's post Covid problems but there are problems here . The staff are great , the building wonderful , the gardens romantic , But ....the food was pretty bad , dry , small portions and nowhere as good as it should be
Wine list disappointing , not seen a wine list with no years on the bottles before , guess the year for your bottle of St Emillion is the game
What I don't understand in the present staffing issues for hospitality is how a hotel can have really good front of desk , waiting staff and great rooms , but fail on food ??

Hi,

Many thanks for your feedback, and I'm surprised to hear of your comments on our food as this is definitely an area we pride ourselves on at Hawkstone Hall.

I have followed this up with the kitchen to ensure we get to the bottom of what has happened here and ensure it doesn't happen again.

Many thanks,
Martin
