If this is the same museum that I think it is (the pictures look right), the ancient Japanese armor, swords, and artwork were incredible cool. I saw one set of armor for a lady, which I didn't think was a thing but learned otherwise. Some of the hilts of the swords/daggers were some crazy skin I could not recognize... must have been shark or something like that. I like to read up on yokai and saw some on the scrolls(?). Very interesting stuff, and I was shocked to find it all in this little town. Granted the museum wasn't huge, but I would go again.

This attraction is likely more significant to the Japanese. However, you do get a view of how the locals used to live during his time. If you are in the area, the small fee is worth your time to learn about the person and his writings.
