We learnt the hard way, that so popular was the restaurant that you had to book in advance. We went on a Thursday evening, most of the diners appeared to be local There were three set menus, all offering a wide variety of typical French meals, . Although the staff spoke little English and we little French, They did their best to help us with our choices. The four of us chose different meals but all of them proved to be excellent Three courses plus wine worked out about 30 Euro per head The only sad part was that it had taken us until the last evening to go there

The Vaucelles is a delightful restaurant in every way. It really captures the spirit of a Traditionnal French eatery. Our many dining experiences here have all been wonderful. The menu is filled with tempting choices and the kitchen staff clearly love what they do, very attentive french speaker staff and direction. Just perfect .

We actually ate here twice as it was first class local food, served by two very attentive ladies.
At 20 euros each for a three course meal, this was good value.
Both evenings there were around 20 French diners, who were clearly locals. We spoke in French but the ladies were happy to speak English as well.
Would visit again without hesitation.

We were recommended to this restaurant by our chamber d'hôte hostess. She said it was popular with locals and so it proved on the rainy April Wednesday evening when we visited. It speaks volumes for the restaurants food, service and ambience in a town where there are plenty of choices for tourists and locals that they were full all evening. We chose the 20 Euro menu and were very satisfied, pleased also that they offered us the menu which they had translated themselves. We wish we were locals as this would be well worth a regular visit.

We visited Le Vaucelles one wet and windy evening and had a really good dinner.

The only criticism we had was that the portions were too generous and we could not do the food justice.

Most of the tables were taken with a mixture of age groups and all appeared to be enjoying the experience.
